In "the house of the scorpion" is mostly about Clones. They are been used as pets and an organ donor to the person clones from. They are most hate by human because they act like beast and they go against the nature. The main character Matt is a clone himself and how all his conflict come about. The clones are said to be dumb at birth and Matt is the only one kept as a human or not turn dumb at birth with the power of El Patrón help Matt escape that faith.
